We set up the company to help people have the best time possible when they are travelling by being better informed and better connected.

It's the first port of call for backpackers and potential world-travellers, giving free, tailored and unbiased travel advice and helping to connect people out on the road like never before. It's fun, informative, relevant and practical.
Why did you create funtotravel.info?
We created funtotravel.info in late 2009 to be the ultimate tool for backpackers around the world, whether they're planning a trip or out on the road, newbies or seasoned travellers alike.
We came back from our latest trip and decided that there was nowhere on the internet that people could go for trustworthy, unbiased and free advice on how to plan a trip around the world. We meet so many people everyday who tell us that they'd love to go away on a big trip but they haven't got a clue where to start looking, how to plan, how much it will cost them etc. There is a pre-conception amongst the uninitiated that trips around the world to exotic destinations are expensive, difficult, dangerous and impossible to plan. No matter how many times we tell people that this couldn't be further from the truth, there are an awful lot of people out there convinced that the only people who want to give them advice are trying to sell them a particular trip, flight or hotel and therefore can't be trusted.
We also wanted to create a social networking site to connect people on the road like never before - somewhere people could go for advice, to organise a few drinks, to find a travel buddy or to buy/sell a campervan.
So we decided to do something about it...
Why should I join funtotravel.info?
You should join us for two reasons:
Firstly, if you want travel advice: funtotravel.info aim to take the fear and uncertainty away from planning a trip away by providing free, personalised and impartial advice on where, when and how to build the perfect trip. Just fill in our enquiry form and we will message you back with information on itineraries, routes and destinations that suit your needs, as well as useful practical information.
Secondly, if you're on the road: you can join our free online travel community to help you find friends wherever you go, be it for a night on the tiles, sharing accommodation costs or finding a buddy for the next leg of your trip. You can also use funtotravel.info to find local traveller-friendly businesses or to ask our other members for advice or recommendations.
If I ask you for travel advice you're just going to try and sell me something aren't you?
No, we promise. We are simply providing you with advice regarding ways to build a trip, potential countries to visit and routes to take. We are doing this because we want you to have as great a time exploring the world as we have been lucky to have. We will though show you links to other companies where you can buy your tickets and book your accommodation. You'll have noticed by now though that there are adverts on our site, and we hope you'll find them relevant and as unobtrusive as possible. By clicking on the ads and having a look at what's on offer (whether it's buying a recommended guidebook or booking a hostel room), you're helping to keep our advice free and independent.
Is there any cost involved in joining funtotravel.info?
No. It's entirely free to you to join the site, whether you're using our Advise Me section or our services that will help you out on the road (the noticeboards, travel guides, messaging, posting photos etc). The only things on funtotravel.info that have a cost attached are our reasonably priced e-guides.
Why do some countries not have full profiles yet?
We are adding new Country and Destination profiles all of the time and have team members in places all around the world writing guides and updating information to ensure that the advice we give is relevant and useful. Please bear with us while we add more and more profiles to the site, and if there are any places that you'd like to see profiled now then please use the Contact Us section to let us know, likewise if you'd like to contribute.
What can I do on funtotravel.info and do I have to be a Member?
As a guest, you can use funtotravel.info to look through country profiles and see how many of our Members are in a destination at any time, but to really use funtotravel.info to its fullest all you have to do is register your own account.
As a Member you can:
Take advantage of our Advise Me section to get free, unbiased and tailored advice on planning a trip.
Contact other Members using our simple Messaging service - when you log on to the relevant destination page for wherever you are, you will see a list of all the members currently in the area. Contact them to ask for advice, see if they want to share travel costs or even if they fancy hooking up for a coffee - you need never feel lonely on the road again!
Use the My Profile feature to show other Members where you've been, the trips you've taken, what you thought of those places and show off your photos amongst other things.
Use the Noticeboard function to ask for advice, to organise a few drinks, to find a travel buddy, to buy/sell a campervan or communicate with our other Members about anything really.
Upload unlimited photos.

How long will my funtotravel.info Profile stay online for?
funtotravel.info will not remove your Profile from the site unless you violate the Acceptable Usage policy ( offensive material is removed ). funtotravel.info does not have a "time-limit" for the information hosted through your Profile.
For a long, long time after your trip is over you'll still be able to visit your Profile, look at your photos and read your reviews to take a trip down memory lane.
